It is formed in endoplasmic reticulum, by decarboxylating condensation of palmitoyl-CoA and serine.ApplicationSphinganine (d200) has been used as a standard in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the quantitative analysis of plant sphingolipid long-chain bases.
