In textile and paper applications, Glyoxal is used as a crosslinking agent or building block for crosslinker for softer and less wrinkled textiles and enhanced wet/dry strength and efficient coating of paper. It is also used as a crosslinker in leather tanning processes. Especially in epoxy for electronics application, Glyoxal plays a role of building block to bring higher epoxy stability performance. In cosmetics, Glyoxal-crosslinking polymers (hydrocolloids) improves the viscosity. In disinfection application Glyoxal is a biocidal active ingredient for disinfection formulation in health industry and veterinary hygiene . Also, Glyoxal can be used in wood hardening application for better protection from moisture.The sulfur scavenging property allows Glyoxal to act as a H2S scavenger with biocidal effect in water treatment and oilfield industries.
