Its oxidative decomposition in the presence of anchored photocatalysts (anchored titanium oxide catalysts and standard TiO2 powder) has been investigated. Its liquid-phase oxidation to 1-octanal in the presence of Ti/Si binary oxide catalysts has been reported. It has gained wide recognition as an extraction solvent in analytical chemistry.application1-Octanol may be used in the preparation of crystalline poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes.
